Josh Hanson is the Associate Executive Director of The Safe Center, a not-for-profit in Nassau County, NY serving victims of all forms of interpersonal violence. Prior to that he served as the Director of The Safe Center’s Nassau County Child Advocacy Center (CAC), facilitating the multidisciplinary team response to child sexual and severe physical abuse allegations. He has worked in the field of child protection for the last 16 years; serving as a Forensic Interviewer with Safe Horizon’s Brooklyn Child Advocacy Center before becoming the Director of the Nassau CAC and prior to that as a Mental Health Counselor with high-risk foster children. He has a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University and has provided trainings on child protection, Forensic Interviewing, and the CAC response at the local, state and national level. Mr. Hansonalso provides expert testimony and is qualified as an expert in Family and Criminal Court in Nassau, Queens and Kings counties. He has appeared as an expert on WABC’s “Long Island Viewpoint,” TV newsmagazine “Protect our Children” and as a special presenter to the NYC Mayor’s Council on Child Protection.
